Creating "the summer of you"

SeaDek's 2022 summer campaign



In spring of 2022, I had the opportunity to conceptualize and create SeaDek's summer campaign. One that would target both its fishing and wake audiences as well as middle-class families and adventurous millennials. I started with a brainstorm and came up with a basic pitch to present my idea: The Summer of You



Once the pitch was approved, I started planning. The video would consist of two different shoots - one family-based fishing, and one centered around wake. This meant writing a script and shot list, finding on-screen talent and chase boats, location scouting, coordinating and scheduling shoots, gathering all needed materials, and finally... shooting!


For the first shoot, we used a jetski as a chase boat to film on - switching back and forth between the jetski and boat for each desired shot. I took photos as well as videos, making sure I had everything I needed.



For the wake shoot, we used our brand ambassador and professional wakeboarder, Noah Flegel, once again filming from a jetski.



After editing the photos, I passed them along to the rest of the Marketing team to use for social media, literature, ads, headers, and more. Next came the editing. This consisted of recording and editing a voiceover for the script, sorting through footage, editing the video, color grading, and sound design.



The video performed 96% better than any of our 50 most recent social posts and reached almost 2 million people in the first two weeks it was released as a Facebook ad.



Majority of the work created for the quarter was branded as "The Summer of You", just like these lead-generation ads:
